Ballarat Beat Rockabilly Festival.

February 15th-17th 2013 saw the first annual "Ballarat Beat Rockabilly Festival" roll into town,
a new rockabilly event put together by Arthur Mats of Rockabilly King Productions. Arthur also puts together the Camperdown Cruise Rockabilly Weekender.

As far as Rockabilly festivals go, the bar has definitely been raised here.
With major overseas acts including Omar and the Stringpoppers (USA), The Desperados (USA), Bebo (USA) and CC Jerome's Jetsetters (Netherlands). Along with the cream of Australia's Rockabilly talent which included Pat Capocci Combo, Scotty Baker, Dan and the Dualtones, The Yard Apes, Firebird Trio and The Rechords to name but a few, all playing in and around Ballarat's amazing heritage buildings and pub/bars such as The Mechanics Institute, The Mining Exchange, Karova Lounge and The George Hotel.

Sun Rising were also a big hit with the punters bringing along their "Songs That Made Memphis" show. I caught them at Karova Lounge on the VERY hot Sunday afternoon, and let me tell you, if you haven't yet seen these guys make sure you do, it's a real treat.

With Camp Street closed off for the trade stands and car show, there was plenty for the punters to browse during the day while the bands played and people danced in Alfred Deakin Place.

All in all, a sensational start to what I hope is the first of many, many years of the Ballarat Beat Rockabilly Festival.

Anywho, thats enough from me, i'll let you have a peep at what I saw over the weekend!

Hope you enjoy.

Cheers.
